Ivon Cury

BPL-3003 Ivon Cury

BPL-3011 - O rei decreta o sucesso - 1956 was Ivon Cury's best year ever. He had at least 3 Number Ones in the Brazilian charts: 'Falam tanto de mim' was #1 on 25 June 1955, 'Xóte miudinho' (Forró de Quelemente) reached #1 a month later on 23 July 1955, and finally 'Farinhada' went to #1 on 24 September 1955.

'Falam tanto de mim' (They talk about me) was an answer Ivon Cury wrote to those who spread innuendos about his private life. Brazilian machismo would not tolerate a man who would not brag about his sexual prowess. Ivon, being a gentleman in the British sense, had always been a victm of gossip and slander.

BPL-15 'Eu canto assim'.

BPL-3044 'Tournée musical'.

BPL-8 'Eu em Portugal'.

Garotos da Lua

The Garotos da Lua (The boys from the Moon) were a vocal-group formed in 1946 who were obviously inspired by Bando da Lua (Band from the Moon) who accompanied Carmen Miranda when she went to live in the USA in 1939. This 10" album is a coveted collector's item. João Gilberto was one of the boys from the Moon...

pre-Bossa Nova 1955 Radio 10" album: 'Uma noite no Plaza' with Conjunto do Bar do Hotel Plaza with Luiz Eça on the piano, Paulo Ney at the guuitar & Eduardo Lincoln at the double bass.
